Kimakura In Spicy-Spotted Yellow Dress

The title “Kimakura” adopts a Japanese-inspired stylistic approach. I combined my surname, ‘Kim’, with the linguistic conventions of Japanese names, such as Fujimura (藤村) or Kawashima (川島), resulting in a catchy, resonant title that possesses a natural phonetic rhythm that rolls naturally off the tongue.

The second half of the title reflects the creative genesis of the collection. Struck by a leaf’s remarkable texture and style (“Elm Tree Leaf“), I translated that visual into the initial artwork, “Woman In Spicy-Spotted Yellow Dress“. That distinct pattern ultimately became the defining signature across the series of “…In Spicy-Spotted Yellow Dress”, gracefully carrying over into “Kimakura In Spicy-Spotted Yellow Dress” and beyond.
