This is a piece of work that I made in a workshop were located in Ra’anana city and at the time, it was under the direction of Gabi Ben-Gano (and the instructor whose her name I don’t remember). In here, I took an earlier work of mine, “Profile of a Woman” (in Hebrew: “פרופיל של אשה”, Eloquent Hebrew: “צדודית אשה”), which I drew with a marker.

The story started of that drawn in marker character, whose design I later took and created an exact replica on my T-shirt — It was on a 3-day trip we took as part of the “art program” in high school, where we also participated in a T-shirt painting workshop. Years later when I took goldsmithing workshop, I have recalled my character piece and again, I took the original design and applied it as a piece of jewelry, a pendant, for my mother (a gift).

You can see in this piece of jewelry, a bronze dome that serves as a base and background, to highlight the profile of the woman on it.

Originally, I wanted to separate the background from the profile. With one of them being regular bronze (aged) as happens to all bronze over time; and the other with polished bronze (shiny) and covered with lacquer so that the shine would remain. Prorbably because the workshop was over, I didn’t have the right equipment at home and/or turned to other pursuits, this idea was abandoned.

When I am saying “dated” it is not really because this piece was never polished, just as it was after the welding, the borax and the hammering processes with the years ahead, till today, without any further handling.
