This post will be dedicated to the entire process of the digitization regarding the entire art portfolio of me and my father. It will provide as follows:
- Information regarding the process itself
- Thoughts.
- Difficulties
In, chronological manner.
In the picture ahead, בan be seen that I have placed a dark blue bed sheet on the sofa, to be used as a background for all sorts of sculptures that I have photographed. I have used it in several occasions. Also, little above I have placed box and some objects – The reason was to try to capture the “Old Jaffa” with different lighting as I also explained it another section in the website (see under “Father & Son”: “Old Jaffa“). On the one hand, there was too much light combing from the porch (left) which is too much angled-light that provide an improper lightness and resulted picture with uneven light throughout the entire piece. Moreover, There was too much light coming from the rear close windows that resulted pictures with blind/dazzling area. On the other hand, I wanted a lot of light to be ably to capture it properly, such as: being sharp, being brighter, even light and more.
Eventually, As can be seen in the picture, above the pillows of that sofa, I have placed box and some objects to bock a direct light from the porch. I also capture it at high-noon when the sun is at the highest, to have as much light as possible, I closed most of the windows to decrees the blinding/dazzling light but to still let some light to enter. lastly, I turn on the artificial light in the living room. After all that, I had pretty decent conditions which were much better but still not good enough. However, when I have tried to capture it, it took me a while to find the right angle that the cellphone’s software and hardware (like, sensor) work best. In conclusion, this specific condition with a specific angle, provided what I was needed to make, not prefect, but a wonderful picture. This was a unique case.
Regarding the rest of the art pieces, is that all other, this complex set was not needed. most of them were pretty straight forward and some had only one issue or several issued with mild severe conditions. Basically, they were much easier than the “Old Jaffa“.

In the picture – From left to right: The Witch, Jewish-Arab Brotherhood, Altichke, Violin, A Witch In The Form Of A Rooster, Stairs, Jerusalem, Old Jaffa, Mask, Tavlit.
