Wooden TV/PC [Unit] Cart

I made a unit many years ago that was intended for both a TV and a computer.

Now, many years later, I am taking a selfie with the unit, which is still in my parents’ storage unit, and from there, I put it into an AI system to clean up all the “noise” for a nice display (as can be seen for example in the featured image)

The general idea was to build a simple, elegant (simple lines) and sturdy unit that was portable – So, in practice, it’s a cart and not a sideboard.

The design and use for the cart was for the bedroom, placed next to the desk. In terms of use — On top the TV, on the left side (narrow and tall) there is a place for a desktop computer, on the right side there is a shelf (small shelf) for the TV box, and below, is another area to put other things.

I wanted it to be very strong, so the wooden board in the middle (that is the same board for the whole cart) is only 2 cm thick, but its area (width) is 40 cm, and together with 3 more thick legs on the sides (leg width about 4-5 cm) they form a very strong construction — The reason I chose to put only 3 legs and not 4 is that it would be convenient to remove the computer in the event of a malfunction (or something), when it would be necessary to disconnect it from all connections and conveniently remove it – otherwise the leg would be a bit in the way – what is called “access point”.

Lastly, I chose to connect wheels and wanted a strong connection using bolts with nuts. However, the nuts always stick out, and I chose not to. In contrast, I wanted to use wood screws, but screwing into wood material that is only 2 cm thick is not necessarily strong. Therefore, with no choice, I placed two wooden board (together 4 cm) at the bottom, and thus I was able to screw in screws that were long enough, but that would not pass through from the other side.

Lastly, each wooden board is 1.7 cm thick, which is not enough to accommodate a long screw as required for strength. In all other places of the connections, where due to the shape of the connection, the length is sufficient, in the case of the lower board to which the wheels were connected, I had to add an additional board (double-board) and thus, 3.4 cm was good for connecting the wheels.
